Get the app first
The private alpha opens once the end-to-end smoke test passes (see the roadmap — it’s the T-18 gate, and we mean it). Waitlist members get invites first, in signup order.
One email when the alpha opens, one if we sunset the list. Nothing else, no sharing.
for builders
Build it with us
Xoyo is Apache-2.0 and early — the leverage of any contribution is huge right now. You don’t need to know Matrix internals to start; you need one of these and some curiosity.
Elixir / Phoenix
The platform server: auth, push, media, jobs. Well-tested, conventionally structured, with the Application Service formalization (T-10) and a CLI test client (T-11) open right now.
TypeScript / React
The web client is mid-build, and the React Native mobile client (T-14) is about to start — the single biggest open front. The white-label layer means your UI work ships under many brands.
Ops / infra
Help us re-provision the dev environment from the numbered scripts and harden the deployment story — including making it provider-agnostic beyond GCP.
How joining works
- Write to us — hello@xoyo.me with a line about what you’d like to work on and anything you’ve built. The repo is private while we harden the basics, so access is by request; we say yes to genuine interest.
- Read your way in — the repo carries its own onboarding: architecture decision records for the why, an ops runbook for the how, and a dependency-ordered task backlog for the what’s-next.
- Pick up a scoped task — every open task has acceptance criteria written before code. Green checks and a review get it merged; your name goes in the history like everyone else’s.
